Enjoying The Nice Weather While You Can

This time of year, can be hard for some. The weather is constantly changing, and some days you wake up and it’s 35 degrees outside, but by the end of the day it’s 70 degrees. I personally struggle to get out of bed on these days because I know it’s dark outside and cold. One of the biggest things that keeps me going on these days is having some type of outdoor activity planned on the nicer days. Some of these activities are walking, running, playing spike ball with friends, etc. I know some days can be hard but try your best every day to do one thing outside when it is a little nicer out because staying active is so important especially during this time of year. Enjoy the nice days as much as you can!

  1. Cool post! I struggle to walk outside when it is cold out as well. I love the warm weather so cold weather makes me tired and lazy. I also like to have an outdoor activity planned out for the days it is nice. I like to go for walks, play pickleball, and go shopping at the outlets. I think being able to get outside and be active is super important, and it is unfortunate that it is starting to get cold out.

  2. I completely agree. Weather is major determining factor when it comes to peoples moods and mindset each day. It is very common for people to not want to go outside when it is cold but even if it is a little chilly there are many activities people can still be apart of. With the temperature fluctuating it is very hard for people to make decisions that affect their whole day such as what to wear each morning. It is a great idea to make plans to get outside when you know that there is a day that is warm and nice outside. Games like Spike ball, Cornhole, and Kan Jam are all good games that can be played for a lifetime and do not require maximum effort.

  3. I love your vulnerability about your experience with the change in weather. It is certainly harder to obtain motivation, especially to exercise, when the weather is ever changing. Your suggestion of planning activities on the nicer days is a great idea! As the days get colder, I think it's always great to find the pros within the misery. Some of the pros I like to think of is: being able to experience the sunrise at a later time, the fall leaves and its colors, walking to class will get the blood flowing and warm you up, crisp fresh air is good for you, and, my personal favorite, soup!

  4. I totally understand what you mean about this time of year. It can be tough when the weather keeps changing so much. I also find it hard to get going when it’s dark and cold in the morning. I like your idea of planning outdoor activities on nicer days because it gives you something to look forward to. Walking, running, or playing games with friends is a great way to stay active and enjoy the weather. Your advice to make the most of the nicer days is really motivating and a good reminder to keep moving, even when it’s challenging.

  5. Hey Brooke, as someone who grew up being in the outdoors most of the time I completely agree with you. Especially when it comes to the weather of Slippery Rock, it can be hard to want to get up and moving when the weather is always so different and constantly changing. But, I do think it is important to get up and outside especially on the nicer days because it adds such a big serotonin boost to your day and life and can help to increase dedication in other areas of your life.

  6. Hey Brooke! I totally can relate to what you're saying. The constant weather changes this time of year make it so hard to stay motivated, especially when it's cold and dark in the mornings. I also try to take advantage of the nicer days by getting outside for a walk or playing sports with friends. It really does make a difference in how you feel both mentally and physically. I like your reminder to enjoy the nice days while we can - it's such a good mindset to have as we head into the colder months!
